Carme MartínCarme Martín is with the Department of Service and Information System Engineering (ESSI) and the Centre for Language and Speech Technologies and Applications (TALP), both of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC).

Dr Martín was awarded a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in Computer Science, both from the UPC, in 1991 and 2005, respectively. She has a postgraduate degree in University Education in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), which she took at the Institute of Education Sciences of the UPC in 2017.

Her fields of study include database systems (particularly temporal databases and databases for natural language processing), engineering education and education for sustainability. She has authored over 40 publications related to these research topics and co-authored several books, and is a reviewer for several national and international conferences and journals.

From 1991 to 1993, she was a teacher at the Vilanova i la Geltrú School of Engineering and, from 1994 to 2009, at the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Since 1993 she has taught at the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) and, since 1998, she has been a student tutor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

The most recent special mention of teaching quality by the UPC was obtained in the evaluation period from 2011 to 2016. She is the coordinator of the generic competency Appropriate Attitude towards Work for bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the FIB (UPC).
